Hello Ed, I finished it with a high quality oil which penatrates the wood and makes it impervious to water. It was fairly expensive but worth it given the fact that this bench will be exposed to the elements all Year round. If i had the money i would have made it from yellow pine, cedar or redwood. Jig settings for 2 ¾ x 1 ½ boards with 30 degree miters?
