Thanks Ed!  I think it's always a good idea to make a prototype of anything first if I can.  Maybe buy a piece of MDF or something to try or pine?  Give me a shout if I can help you out!!

Great looking chest. I just got some plans from Rockler that I am going to give a try. It is suggesting oak, but I don't know if I want to spend the money on a first try :-)

Well thank you then.  I wouldn't attempt something like this without using plans only because of my lack of experience in making a chest like this.  Very nice work.

I didn't have plans for this, I can get you dimensions if you want.  I used a shaker style door router profile to make the 4 sides and then using my table saw I made tongue and grooves in the sides to assemble them together.
