I got tired of kneeling down on one knee to add or remove items from my
smoker so I put the Kreg jig to work building this stand. The stand is 20
x 20 inches and raises the smoker 27 inches up off of the patio. Caster
wheels on the bottom of the legs make it easy to move around. For
convenient work space while loading or unloading the smoker I added an 18
inch pull out full extension shelf. The 4 x 4 construction gives the stand
great stability ballast.
The Kreg Jig made this a fun 2 hour project!

Jim,
Thank you for the comments on the Smoker Stand. The Kreg Jig makes projects like this very easy. Last night I made 4 small table tops with the Kreg jig instead of using the biscuit Jointer out.
Yes, that is a Shopsmith. It started out as a 505 Anniversary model when I bought it back about 2002 or 03. I upgraded it to the 510 table system a couple years later. Two years ago I bought the digital power head and made the old power head into what Shopsmith calls the Shop Deputy to drive to drive the band saw and a sanding disc separate from the big unit. Last year I updated the tables to the 520 style fence. Also, I found on Craig's list a planer, jointer with power stand and a scroll saw with power stand all at very discounted prices. I had admired the Shopsmith all the way back when I was a teenage but thought it was too expensive. Once you buy one you wonder how you did with out it and how well it is designed and well it works compared to the level entry type of equipment. Lots of fun making sawdust!
What's your latest project, Jim?
Rob

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
