What type of screws did you use? Did you use the 2.5" blue Kreg screws (course thread 64 millimeters long)???
I used four pocket screws at the top and four at the bottom of each board of the panel. The panel boards are simply butted to one another, no t&g....no fasteners. These boards have remained stable.....no warping or cupping. These are old boards (probably 50+ years old) that were part of an old garage and probably the reason that they are so stable.
On this gate, I used 1x6 cedar only on those center boards. The outside frame was made with 5/4 long-leaf pine material. 1x6 cedar is normally about 11/16" thick and is not suitable for the long span of the gate frame. Also, you can see that the variation of thickness between the 1x6 cedar board panel and the 5/4 frame creates a nice detail . The center panel is set back from the front edge of the gate frame.
Use the 5/4 deck boards for your outer frame. I would cut the bevel off of the inside edge and leave the rounded edge for the outside. On gate above, I rounded the outside edge to give it a more pleasing look. That treated material will probably twist and cup over time. My own gate looks as good as the day I put it up.

What if I went with a 1x6 cedar on a gate that spans 42" would this work. I see that you used pine on this project was this painted or stained. I am having a hard time finding wood suitable for outside use. I can find an abundance of PT and cedar 5/4 deck boards that I can mill down.
Structurally speaking do you think cedar will be suitable. I called tight bond and they said the tight bond III glue works 50% of the time on PT.

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
