Thanks, Michael. Finishing is my next-to-least-favorite thing. (Sanding is the least-favorite.) And this is the largest piece I have ever finished in this manner. Fortunately, the finish coat is fairly easy to apply. The stain dries very quickly and you need to maintain a wet edge - that became a challenge during application on a piece this big. Someday, maybe I will learn to spray finishes . . .

Thanks for the kind words. I used a Behlen brand stain - medium brown walnut and finished with General Finishes brand Arm -R- Seal semi-gloss. I applied both with felt pads, and put about 5 coats of the finish on top of the stain. The Arm-R-Seal is a combination oil and urethane, that penetrates and also protects the surface. I really like the look that this finish gives. I have a Woodcraft store nearby where I get both products.
