i used oak which is more solid and then honestly that glaze coat i put on self levels and really makes it look beautiful.  The grains wont even matter if you use the glaze coat instead of polyurethane...but even poly would be fine as long as you sand smooth before applying each coat.

You did an amazing job on this. I'm actually thinking of using dimensional lumber to make an island countertop for my craft room do you notice any slight grooves of the lumber?  i really need it to be flat as I trace a lot of things. how did you make the top?

I just glazed the top last night, wow is it amazing now...love the hi gloss shine!!! first time glazing something and I really like the way it turns out...nice thick layer of protection now

I just wanted to go with a simple and clean design, but certainly is a space saver. (you cant see my kitchen and dinning room areas in the picture because both of those rooms are filled with other stools to be completed and other projects lol

Beautiful set of table and chairs! Looks really sturdy and it's a space saver specially the stools. Practical to use in a not so big house. Great work!

Jig settings for 2 ¾ x 1 ½ boards with 30 degree miters?
