Hi martyn ,point taken martyn on matching .Don't eat too much ham over the Christmas period ,incidently I see your location Malaga .I have a aunt in Finguerola ha.
Many thanks for your comments.
PLEASE READ : - The clue is in the word "Match" I do not own a Beech or Maple Kitchen, Although I understand members Food concerns this is used for about two months of the year around christmas time and the Oak has been sealed with three coats of a matt polyurethane varnish. So I am quite happy that no one will die or suffer arm from my wonderful Oak Ham Holder that does a great job in matching in with my kitchen.
Beautiful job martyn ,not sure if this is correct but I believe beech is good for food applications.I made some chopping boards out of beech and gave them 6 coats of rustins food safe oil stops all the nasties including e coli have a good holiday .
Maple would be more suitable for this application, because of contact with ''food" products.
Oak is a porous material that will harbor bacteria.
