Kim, If I would have had a hole saw that large, I probably would have used that. This way worked well, but with only one blade I could see running into problems with some harder woods. Thankfully I was drilling through plywood so it wasn't an issue!

Do you feel this is a better method than using a hole saw drill bit? (Which I do not like very well) BTW I think every table needs a grommet. I hate wires flopping around. Good idea.

The 'grommet' is actually the piece of metal that goes in the hole's place when done. The grommet organizes the wires for the lamp, phone, etc. on top of the nightstand.
