Hi marty, sorry did not get back earlier the wife dragged me out shopping.I hate shopping unless its for power tools.Just measured my sled marty and it is 22"x 22",its primarily made of three quarter inch mdf.The front and rear fence [if thats the correct term] is 5" high by 22" long/wide if you want to incorporate the safety features i will give you the measurements.Have a good weekend mick.

Mick, one last question: Again, the base size.

my base will be 22 inches deep, but how wide did you make yours....the full table width?

I am leaving town in a few minutes, so thank you in advance for your answer, and i will respond early next week.

Mick,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I will begin construction very soon. And I love the safety features you incorporated. Great job, and stay warm.

Hi marty rosenbloom, good to hear from you.Right where do i begin? The sled is loosely based on Steve Ramseys heres the link ; http://www.woodworkingformeremortals.com/ its a great site ,your find steves video on how to make a tablesaw sled.ANSWERS,;yes the sled is the same size as the tabletop, the extended saw guard is for my safety. As i tend too stoop over the sled to make sure i cut bang on my reference lines.Never experienced the table dropping off but if you look closely the back of the guard has a stopblock low down between the two handles, this hits the edge of the table before the sled can run off the other end.I guess Marty if the work piece was really heavy could make the sled dangerous ,but most of my projects are small. For ripping full sheets i use my circular saw in the garden if its not snowing like today .Hope this helps marty any doubts feel free to ask regards Mick /OXFORD/UK.

Michael, A couple of more questions: 1) did you make the base the same size as the talbetop? 2) Why the extended saw guard in front (less room to work with)? 3) What is the purpose of the long extension? 4) Being that we have such small tabletops, does the crosscut jig remain stable, or does it dangerously drop off?

Thanks again for your thoughts.

Michael,

I have the same saw & stand. Ironically I have been trying to come up with a solution as to how to build a cross cut sled on such a small table. I recently gave up...until I saw your picture...amazing!

Do you have a plan or sketch I can replicate? I love your end result.

Thanks,

Marty
