Danny, The pics are in the projects section under "One way to make a ring bar"
Danny, I seem to have lost the URL, but I had copied and pasted the page to my computer. I'm going to try and paste it into this reply. Hopefully it will be legible.
Don
I start with used sanding sponges. I slice off the used up gritt portion on the bandsaw so that only the sponge is left.
After that... I glue them to a piece of 1/8" hardboard or cardboard and slice them every 1" or so.
Then I cut the fabric 1-1/2 times as wide and 4 times as long and attach to the back of one end.
After that, I use a ruller or in this case, a small square to tuck the fabric into the groves.
Finally, glue the other end to the back and trim away the excess leaving about 1/2" on each side to tuck into the frame.
When you're done, you get a custom ring bar in any size/shape you want and it matches the rest of the fabric. Beats being limited to the 5 or 6 colors and 1 or 2 types of fabric available at most ww stores.
Obviously the pictures didn't appear. I'll try entering everything as a project, maybe that will work.
Danny,
to make the ring bar I cut a piece of 1/8 " Baltic birch plywood to fit the bottom of the drawer. I then cut an over sized piece of felt and glued it to one end. I cut several pieces of 5/8" backer rod the width of the drawer. I glued a backer rod to the plywood at the end where the felt was glued, allowed it to cure enough to hold the rod in place then wrapped the felt around the rod and glued it in place. I butted the second rod to the first and repeated the process until the entire piece pf plywood was covered. I used a metal ruler to insure the felt stayed in between the rods. When completed I used double sided tape to hold the ring bar in the drawer. (although it was such a snug fit I doubt it would come out on its own.
I had purchased a clear craft glue from Michael's to glue everything in place but found regular wood glue worked better adhering the backer rods to the plywood. The craft glue was used to adhere fabric to the wood. I purchased the backer rod Lowe's. It came in a 20' roll, so I have plenty left over for a future oriental inspired jewelry chest in the planning stages.
Before building this I researched ring bars and found other people had used sanding sponges with the sand paper cut off, rigid insulation foam, and one used flexible hair rollers instead of the backer rod. In the case of the sanding sponge or rigid insulation they cut kerfs on the table saw and forced the fabric into the kerfs. I'll look for the URL to the page where the gentleman used sanding sponges. He has a very detailed instruction with pictures of the build.
Hope this helps, Don

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…

Several months ago, I purchased the Kreg K4MS so that I could build the Lego Table as outlined on the companion "buildsomething" web site which exclusively uses pocket hole construction. I have considerable experience with conventional…
