James, thanks for the info.

.

Daris, I'll be using my Lowe's gift card.

.

Ken Darga, I was using the right angle Kreg clamp to attach pine face frames to birch plywood.  It has no rubber pad.  After I was finished, I started seeing those round "impressions" in the face frames every place where I used it, and had to go around to sand them all out. My Kreg bench clamp came with a grey rubber pad, so I have no "impressions" centered at my joint seams, as you noted in your post

Perhaps you are using a hardwood, and never get those nasty "impressions," or you just make it a point to sand everything after assembly.

Thanks all for the help!

Rick,

Personally, I find that the Kreg face clamps are more effective without pads on the swivel face.

Position the swivel face, centered, over the joint seam and apply the applicable clamping force.

This will keep the surfaces flush and in the same plane.

Rick I just bought a set at Lowe's and they included those pads.  Nice feature...!

The irwin clamps i have I picked up at lowes as a two pack about 7 months ago.  Here is a link to the package. You can see the blue pads in there.  Hope this helps.

Thanks James.  I assumed they were Kreg clamps.

.

When I checked the Irwin tool site, I could only find these locking clamps ...

http://www.irwin.com/tools/locking-tools/the-original-locking-c-cla...

which don't appear to have the blue pads.  Perhaps the pads are too new for the website.

I don't understand why Kreg would include pads with their bench clamps but not with their face clamps.

The pads on the kreg bench clamps on the right were the ones that came with them.  The two clamps on the left with the blue pads are irwin clamps.  The blue pads came with them.

Anyone else seen these blue pads on the face clamps in James' drawer lower left corner?

I have the bench clamp with the grey pad which are seen on the right side of the drawer.

When working with soft pine, I am leaving indents in the wood, which have to be sanded out.  Those blue pads would help.

James, I was at Rockler last weekend looking for plastic/rubber pads to cover the Kreg clamps, and they had nothing.  Where did you get yours?

The tracks are at a 90. I checked with several different squares to get it at a 90. Just to be sure. And yea kreg has some little blocks that slide in the track to register the corner. There like 10 bucks or something. I just haven't picked any up yet. I basically just did their clamping table on a larger scale.
