Whenever possible, I always try to keep the pocket holes on the outside of the work because I've notice alot of times when i put them on the inside and screw toward an outside corner or edge, my board will crack or split. Not sure how many others have experienced that yet, but as a rule I will keep them on the outside. If i'm using paint, it covers them up anyway. Sometimes not so much on the stain, but on some things I've noticed even the pocket hole plugs make a nice decorative look when stained. Almost like an "intentional accent" to the piece.

Yep i just use 3/8" dowls and cut'em off with a feather saw. Saves alot of work sanding!
I use a pair of vise grips and my band saw to trim about 3/16'' off of the round end
Russ , I set up my miter gauge on my shop smith to the tapered end of plug and sand off 5/16 " off the round end with my 12 " disk sander , works for me !!! JIM

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
