Stand-alone cabinet. Used 200-year-old reclaimed pine for the island top. Really broke in my Beaded Face-Frame System with this build. It absolutely rocks saved so much time! I love the results.

So Joe it is a bunch of different steps. Pretty simple though i always use Milk paint from "General Finishes" because it has all the primary colors my clients like. The first color in this case was Black then put the Finish color Red on top. Depending on how much you want the colors to show thru depends on how many coats of each you put on. I normally spray the paint on very lightly with an Earlex 5000 sprayer. Always takes 2 coats of color to get the depth i want. Then it is just sanding away certain areas that would get normal use from age. I do most by hand but occasionally use a random orbital sander.
Last step, Dust off the piece and apply a dark Brown Wax from Bri-Wax. Protects the piece, gives it age, blends everything nicely and gives a great look. Nothing above is complicated to apply and if you don't have a sprayer, brushes work just as good. Good luck! Hope i wasn't to long winded!!

Clayton, i used --BLUM Clip Top Inset Hinges, Face Frame They are easy to install and can be adjusted if needed. As for the draw slides i used 14" ACCURIDE 3732 Full Extension Drawer slides. I buy most of my stuff at "woodcraft", i love the environment and the great community of people that work there and that shop there. Best of luck!

Jeff, how did you get that kind of a finish on the cabinet?

What did you use for draw slides and hinges on those inset draws and doors?

Just like you, I have a plan for every project. I can adapt when it comes to problem solving during a project (making jigs and fixtures), but I can't move forward with out a detailed plan. My hope is to do the living room set in the old Hawaiian plantation style. I did a quick scan of the net, the link below has an example.

So the next project will be with hand tools only...impressive. The spindles are going to be a real challenge, but I am sure you are up to the task. Good luck and thanks for the conversation.

I have been collecting reclaimed wood for years now and love the ability to grab some out of the pile. It is amazing what people throw away and also what reclaimed wood can cost. That stinks about that credenza, next time!!! Best of luck with that sofa & chair! Do you have plans made up yet? I find that when i physically do plans then the project is very close behind. My next project is a Windsor Chair made with no power tools, all by hand. Just something that i have always wanted to do. Thanks for the props on the cabinet and look forward to seeing pictures of your work.

Smokin Jeff! My dream is to build a sofa and side chair out of reclaimed wood. Missed an opportunity this morning as someone left a beautiful credenza with lovely wood on the side of the road for bulk pick up. What a waste. Looked to be made of mahogany. Keep up the good work!

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
