Once the hardwood boards were all glued and joined to the plywood base I used a 3 flute router trim bit to level the plywood to the hardwood so the sides are flush, then glue the siding piece and pocket join it from the plywood bottom (this was very close to the counter edge so I had to use plugs in the plywood as it would be exposed over the bottom cabinets)... then lastly run a 45 degree router bevel bit along the siding, fill gaps if any and sand down to 600...

Jig settings for 2 ¾ x 1 ½ boards with 30 degree miters?
