Thanks Doug, I cut the lid off of the boxes using my table saw ,then I ran both pcs. across the joiner set at 1/32 of an inch to get rid of saw arks and get them completly flat.

Later on I'm planing on a hall cabinet for the top of my stairway, this also will be built in the shaker style, probably from maple because i have a bunch of it, maybe I'll try the oil on that project. thanks for your tips
