This is so great.

I tried a similar approach, trying to retro fitting existing cabinets, withpull-out trays,

but it was tough task.  The cabinets I had to work with, had 1/8'' to 1/4'' variations---

out of square 1/4 - 1/2''---YIKES!---

I couldn't get the tracks parallel, because of the units being out of square---

so I opted for an alternate design approach to make them work.

They all turned out great and all the trays were fluid motion.

Hey Jay, I really appreciate it!  You're absolutely right with the box dimensions on the soft close, but it makes for a great appearance for sure!

Justin excellent craftsmanship and design work.  like your attention to the fine details and the dove tail jointery looks well executed.  Looking forward to seeing your finished kitchen.  Reading your method you described to Ken.  This is similiar to my method and sometimes I use a jig that I got from Kreg to position the slides.  They also have a jig for sitting the drawer on to line it up for the slide piece that mounts to the drawer.  I use this mostly when I am retrofitting a cabinet that is already installed and room is not so easily found.

I have another bid out for a large kitchen of which they want the undermount self close slides and the soft close hinge.  It is a straight forward application where you leave about 1/8 inch on each side of the drawer and make the drawer box about 1/2" less in height.

That means a lot Ken, believe it or not I have a method that is really foolproof to be honest.  I rip ply at about 3 inches wide and use a combination square to mount the side rails to it, then use a piece of scrap against the side of the cabinet as a ledger so the slides are set perfect on both sides, then attach the other portion to the drawers.  It's really painless that way.  Now, the drawers above I do the same way with the soft close slides and it works great and have never had any issues.  It's just more complicated to build the dovetailed box to ride on the rails of those, but that's a process I have figured out too finally.

Justin,

I know it takes craftsmanship skillz, to get those guide rail supports aligned,

so the drawers operate fluidly.

Not many can do that.

Great planning and work.
