Thank you Rita.
That is beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
Ken, I live in Green Bay, Wisconsin and of course the weather here can be either extreme... I am brand new to spraying, but looking to get that experience soon. The humidity here can be high also and my shop is in my unheated/air conditioned garage.. :( Keep up the fine work you have shown us!!
Oh, & yes about the lacquer, I love the stuff, it's all I use. Being here in Fl. does have it's challenges with spraying, I found the best times is not the normal low humidity, but when cool & raining, which goes against everything I have learned. I have had to re-learn spraying lacquer in this climate.
Don't feel bad Tom, I have moved to Fl. & no longer have his shop to play in, he is in Iowa. My tools are chump change in comparison. He has all Powermatic with 2 Delta uni saws. Mine are all Grizzly & Jet.
Oh... to be Amish, Haha. That vanity was made a couple of years ago and for a customer, they (I think) put an old farm style sink with a pitcher pump which is the reason for those two top pcs. you can see in another photo (if I posted it?).
Thanks for the quick response! I surely don't have that level of equipment, but make do. The clear lacquer really pops the woodgrain! Did you pick out a sink yet? I hope to see the finished product. Thank you again for the detailed answer you provided...
Thanks Tom, David.
Yes Tom, I did start with 4/4 on all of it, the finished size is around 7/8" +/- face frame & the poplar base (or bottom), & the dividers inside. The drawers are about 5/8" (sides) with 1/4" birch ply bottoms & 7/8" drawer fronts & doors. Lacquer finish (sprayed) on all my cabs & furniture. Kreg Pocket screws to hold most it together (as you can see in the photos), except the face frame, that is doweled.
This vanity was done when I was working for/with my Amish friend which he has a 48" two belt industrial sander that makes all of the parts very even, so it's easy to get that 7/8" or so for everything. "No electricity used, everything done by a line shaft". Way Cool! I wish I had just half of the tools he has.
Hope to see yours when you get done...
nice work.
Ken, this vanity if gorgeous!!! Is this red cedar? Did you glue up 1x lumber for the side panels? I need to build one similar for our cottage at the lake... Thank you for sharing your beautiful workmanship!
Tom

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
