On mine I had 2x2's running inside along the 2x6's and just screwed a piece of 3/4" OSB on top of the 2x2's. I had no problem with it until I dismantle it and used the wood on other projects.

Oh as for strength for adult use, we'll see... I am making slats and I have never been very trusting of slats... I might end up just buying some plywood instead :S

Thanks for your concern... But it is very solid...
Pocket holes were only used on the head/foot boards which are not load bearing at all.
As for the rest of the construction it consists of 2.5 # 10 screws and the weight bearing 2x6's are not only screwed in but also supported by the verticals 2x4's under them (zoom in if you'd like :)
The guard rails are actually mortised, not screwed for easy disassembly and strength

It's very solid now and I only have about half the screws in while its assembled in the garage for varnishing...
Hope that answers your questions :)

Looks really good, Wally!

Is it entirely built using pocket-holes and screws, plus the screws used elsewhere? Did you use a regular Kreg Jig or the HD (Heavy Duty) jig for larger stock (2x4's, 2x6's, etc)?

Is it strong enough to support adults or was this build for kids?

Most bunkbeds (including the one I made years ago and is now gone) use nuts and bolts in areas to support the weight. I used mine for storage and sleeping, here is an image....loft bed

.....notice the nuts and bolts for added strength.

Just wanted to make sure it is strong and safe and that no one gets hurt. :)

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
