Hi rita ,yeah your correct .The book ends done with a roundover bit on the router table freehand. Also the main horizontal rails rounded on top edges only .Rita dimensions in inches ,we work in millimeters here ha.14" LONG X 9" WIDE the dimensions on the book ends vary according how wide apart you want the horizontal rails. My bookends 4" wide x 7" high the rails 2 1/2" apart on the inside edges .Hope this helps rita ,love too see a pic when done. The idea is from steve ramsey on mere mortals.Go steady, mick.
I like this a lot Mick...I could use something like this to store my cookbooks. So help me here, are the curved areas on the legs done by a round over bit on a router? I am thinking the half circles that sit on the legs performed with a drill press or possibly a jig to support the piece?
Glad too here it ken ,that cat must have a sweat on ha.
Going well, thanks Mick.
Busier than a one legged cat in a sandbox.
Thanks ken hows it going?
Nice job, Mick.
Thanks jay ,for your nice comments. The pen is too give you a idea of scale, the book rack does not have too be very big too accommadate 12 books ,the beauty is you can scale up or down too your own requirements. This one 14" long x 9" wide at the base, and was my first attempt at inlay.Go steady jay.
Michael, nice looking book rack. Definitely like the inlay work as it does add to the total look of the project showing a lot of care and dedication was spent on this. You can not go wrong on using oak for this project as it is a wood that will fit any kitchen décor and will add a warming effect to the books that it holds.
I also looked at the other photo and I see that you might be getting some "cup cakes" in the future. That means that you will be having a great coffee break lol. In all reality this is a very useful item in any kitchen but can also be useful in many others areas such as neat the computer or any reading area.

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
