My first project made from the 'old' wood that I had lying around. The original planks (stock?) were used by my gardener some time before as scaffolding planks for a build in progress - it was caked with cement, and I had doubts if it would work.
This stool id for the bathroom, and I found the planks too skinny (for my weight at least). So I glued the planks together for double the 12mm thickness.
I now realized that I should have cleaned and finished the glue-sides of the stock first, as there is now a very noticeable dark line all around the seats and the legs.
But whoever comments on this is told that this shows that it is possible to recycle very old, stained, and cemented stock, into a seat for the bathroom.
The gardener was very impressed, and when we started building a small pool for all the animals, promptly selected more of the wood that I had been nurturing for so long. He said: "Now you can another nice thing once you have scraped of the cement..."
