Thanks Arturo, I can appreciate your preference of finish, I usually would not paint it, but would use stain or a finish, however my wife wanted it red, so it is red, 'nuff said.....

Hi Don Owen the island is very beautiful are the type of furniture that I like but I would rather finish in rustic as so are most of my furniture, greetings.

Thanks Robert, Sy and Stephanie....yes Robert sanding and finishing always seem to take at least as long as the building a project, if not longer in some cases...Sy, yes it was and I still have enough left to make another island....Glad you like it Stephanie, it makes for a great contrasting color in our kitchen.

Wow Don that was a lot of joinery, but the butcher block top must have been worth every penny.

Great project.  Thanks for sharing.

Looks great, I find I spend more time sanding and finishing out a project then making it.

Do you find your self doing the same thing?

I made this Kitchen Island using nothing but pocket joinery. My Kreg Jigs made it easy to set the pockets and assemble the parts.
