Thanks Mark. I think this will be my spring project next year. Just bought the Kreg jig about three weeks ago. I'm now finding/thinking of too many projects to use the Kreg jig with (and not enough time lol).

Hey Andy. I used a product called Australian Timber Oil. It's basically a dark oil based stain I found at Fleet Farm made of a blend of natural oils. Dry time is about 3-4 days unless it's particularly warm (I definitely suggest staining these outside unless you have a dedicated shop). The project went together pretty easily. It took me maybe 2 hrs to plan all the cuts. I went with a 1/2" gap all around the gate. All joints were done with the kreg pocket hole jig. Diagonal joints really are the same process as 90 degree joints. However, you will end up with overhang on the diagonal joints. Slide the diagonal cut over until you see enough "meat" for the drill to hit. The drill will carry over a little to the top of the board, however that's not an issue as this will be the back side of the board anyway. ...and if I didn't mention, yes the board will sit at its cut angle in the kreg jig.

Nice composting bin. My wife and I have talked about getting one, but I think this is something I could tackle. What did you use to stain the wood with? Did you use the Kreg jig for the diagonal pieces as well?

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
