2x4 Flip Top Workbench Cart

Many flip top carts are built with plywood, but dealing with plywood in my small shop is nearly impossible. To solve that problem I designed this multitasking flip top workbench cart with 2x4's. Tools like a miter saw or small table saw can be mounted on one side, then flip the top and the other side reveals a sturdy workbench. It’s like two pieces of shop furniture in one!

I built one close to what you have built. I have it setup so the out feed of my planer, is the same height as my work bench. The other side I have a isolating spindle sander. This way there off the floor and not stored under a bench. I put sides on the ends. I added screw cups to the one side.

Comment by Kevin on February 10, 2016 at 11:00am: I like this cart idea a lot. I work in a very small shop and wrestling with large sheets of plywood have been troublesome. This may cost a bit more, as you have pointed out, but it would appear to be well worth the additional investment in some 2x4s.
