I made this Cat Planter for my mom and dad for Christmas this year. It could also be used for a magazine rack. The head and tail are both on springs and move up and down. I used the Kreg Jig to put it together.

Hi Gary,
your comment was the first one. Thanks for taking an interest in my project! It was fun! Have a great day! :)
Sorry didn't see the comments before I wrote mine but this clever idea.
Thanks Jim. Yes, they really loved it! I wanted to do something different for them. It was a big challenge for me but I did it and I am proud that it came out so well. I already have people wanting me to make them one of their pets! LOL :)
Lorrie, like your design and painted finish, well done , I am sure Mom and Dad were very happy with their special Christmas Present !!! Very good details and pics. of your project as you built It, thanks for sharing , Jim !
Hi Gary,
I'm glad you like it. It was a lot of thinking on my part. My mom likes outdoor planters and statues, etc.. and I thought I would make her a planter that looked like an animal. At first, I was going to make a dog but my dad thought she would like to have a cat since she has 4 cats. I had already drawn the body and it could be either one, so I looked at a lot of pictures and came up with this cat head. She has an orange cat so I thought this would be the most colorful. You see the springs on the small metal animals that move in the wind and I thought I would try to incorporate it with my planter. I thought it came out pretty good. I got to use a lot of tools I had in my garage for the first time. first time using the Jig saw and the scroll saw. I think I am getting a little better at it. I will try to make the dog next. :) I put together a smilebox video of how I made it if you are interested. Here is the link:

I thought it turned out pretty good. LOL I finished it 5 days before Christmas! It was down to the wire! LOL
I like your design, where did you come up with the idea?

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
