Thanks Justin, it was a special piece of wood I had laying around the shop and thought it went well with the grain figure in the lid panel so I cut it in.  it reminds me of a scene across the plains of the mid west.

That almost looks like a hole in the center, great job with the inlay!

Al, it is a remarkable thing when a person receives something that they totally do not expect and then realize that it is a one of a kind made expecially with them in mind.  It somehow relates to them that you value them not only as a customer but as a person.  I also photograph for record all of the process of the building of their project and then turn the photos into a musical slide show CD.  In these boxes I give as gifts, I place a copy  for them as a souvenier that have to view in years to come.

What really happens with this CD is that it gets shown to everyone they know and therefore your work gets shown to thoes whom you don't know but many you will soon get to know as they will be contacting you to do a project for them.  it is a win,win situation, they get a record of your work and they get a photo show of their project and you get a record for proof and free advertisement .  It says volumns more about your work than a simple business card ever would.  What most of us do not realize as the builder of a customer's project it is your project while you build it but once it is delivered it becomes the customer's project.  They are proud of it and anxious to show everyone all the details of how it is built.

I know with out any doubt that if more to the hobby woodworkers of this community would do this their talents and demand for their work would multiply rapidly.    A simple CD costs you a few cents but to most of the customers it is priceless.   Have a great day.

Your customers must really really really like you Jay,

I occasionally make pens to give as gifts to friends and family and you know that they really appreciate getting something that has been custom made just for them.

Thank you very much, Al.  It was fun to build and made from left over material from other projects.  This was made as a "thank you" gift for a customer.  I like to say thank you to my customers by giving them something that they can not go buy one like it any where and it is one of a kind gift.

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
