Yes Mick and James , that is a Shop Smith 500 , mark 5 and still going strong , use it every day !!! This one has a table saw - band saw - lathe - drill press - dics. and drum sander - and horizonal boring !! The newer one,s are more hitec. with a lot of push buttons and I can still get parts for this one , as it is 20 + years old and still works great !!! You can change all the attachments with one allen wrench and a sleeve for the band saw !!! , Jim !
michael, that is a "Shopsmith", a 5-tools-in-1 machine. First introduce in 1953 was a Mark 5 (I was 2 years old), today's Mark 7 has a table saw, drill press, router, lathe, disc sander, shaper and horizontal boring.
When I worked at Belk's Dept. store (22 years, started in 1973) inside a mall I remember seeing it being demonstrated almost every year. I wanted one but didn't have the money. It was and still is an incredible machine.
