Hi Adam,
If you are looking to join material that is 3"-thick, we recommend the Kreg Jig HD (Heavy-Duty). The Kreg Jig HD is optimized to work with 2x4s and 1-1/2" and larger stock. Specifically, the Kreg Jig HD is great for large projects like framing walls, building deck railings, creating outdoor furniture, and more. You can learn more about the Kreg Jig HD on our website: http://www.kregtool.com/Kreg-Jig-HD-Prodview.html. Thank you for your interest in Kreg products. Have a great day!

Adam I'm sorry for the delay getting back to you. I thought I had already done so, but it must not have posted.
The Blue-Kote screws are for use wit hthe regular Kreg Jig. The HD uses its own specific screw. The HD screw is a larger #14 screw that is also coated for exterior use. You can see them here: http://www.kregtool.com/HD-Pocke-tHole-Screws-Prodview.html
