What's your daytime job?

Just thought I would start a discussion on woodworkers real jobs. It would be fun to no if there are lots of professional people using Kreg Jig along with people  like myself a retired  construction worker.

I am a currently unemployed technology teacher and I feel your pain, but it always comes down to what the state and federal government thinks is rigth for the students to learn. This is a sore subject for me because it all started with No Child Left Behind. Now all the schools do is try to teach the students to take the mandated exams as best as they can or and to boot the teachers evaluations are also based on the test scores of the students. So if the students do bad then the teacher looks bad and then the school looks bad.

I own a small drafting business, 6 employees, and I also do some software/pc consulting in north east Ohio.  I went to the school of Hard Knox...seems everything I learned, I did it the hard way. Though I was offered the chance to go to college, I passed because school just wasn't my thing.  I had 2 years of shop classes in junior high...and then didn't have time because of all the college prep courses. But I never forgot the smell of saw dust or grinding steel. I needed to make a living and construction (carpentry) was going under in the early 80's so I opted for drafting which had broader disciplines.  

Twenty years ago I got laid off so I decided the next guy to lay me off was gonna be me! That's when I started my company. My Dad always said "I don't care what you do son....I don't care if you're a grave digger....just be the best damned grave digger you can be". Well Dad...I'm doin my best...and it's working.

Hi... Mike from New Freedom, PA. During the day I am an IT project manager.  Finally bought a house with a garage, so I am setting up a woodworking shop.

Have always been eager to fix things, and have been woodworking for several years, but it's only the past three years I have been really interested. Still learning and very curious.
