Ron, good video and just so you know the audio and video were well done.  Liked you simple approach to showing how to do the project.  You kept if interesting and informative so the novice will be able to understand it and yet the more experienced will stay interested.

This is a topic that has not been discussed much in detail as most it is on the bigger dustcollector systems.  Here you have shown something that can be done without the expense of any suction device at all.  Thanks for taking the time to make this and for sharing a informative video.

Thanks Jay, I have had 5/4 X 12" Lengths of yellow pine air drying on my property for a year while I have been making a quilting studio for my wife. I am now at the point where it is time to make counter tops for the base cabinets I have already installed. I have ran two big boards through it this morning with no problems.

Ron that is great, from looking at your design I figured it would work without any fussing with it.  I have a big jet that I have hooked to a large jet dust collector.  When I start milling it is normally alot of lumber and due to the amount of the chips I remove the hose to the collector bag and shoot it straight out to a pile where I can use it in my dog run.  This way I still have the advantage of not having to frequently empty the chip bag from the collector yet still have the advantage of having  it suck out the chips allowing me to take larger cuts.  ( I mill down from rough lumber)

Making the wife a quilting studio, that is a great thing to do. My sister and her friends are into the quilting thing and it is very lukerative business here.  They make alot of quilts and also saddle blankets.  I find it interesting as I gain alot of respect from anyone whom uses their hand and makes their own needed things.  Just like you have done with this chip collector.  It is rewarding to know that there are still thoes out there whom can rely on their own talents and abilities to figure out how to build their own items and willing to do it and not depend totally on the store and the buying power of the dollar.    Have a great day Ron

Yes, it can be adapted to other power tools as long as the power tool has a strong enough exhaust to push the chips or saw dust through the lenth of hose you use. In the plumbing area at places like lowes or Home Depot you can find rubber boot adaptors that go from 4 inch down to 2 or 2.5", and in the wet vac section of the store you can find a plastic adaptor that will fit the rubber boot that has 4 different sizes- 1", 1 1/4", 1 1/2", & 2". These different sizes will adapt to many different tools. But for smaller tools I just use a wet and dry vac and empty as needed.
