I just picked up a vega pro 40 off of Craigslist recently. I paid $150 it was brand new in the box. I think I got a really good deal.

Anyone have opinions on the vega.

I recently posted a video on you tube of the install. Check it out.

Steve,
Thanks for watching my video.

I don't own the finger saver, but I just use push sticks when I need to get real close to the blade.

Steve, I never heard of finger saver attachment, except for the "Saw Stop" line of table saws.

I've been in contact with the Vega folks directly.  I will be ordering a Finger Saver after Jan. 1st.  They are busy right now manufacturing fences and won't start with accessories till the new year.

To see the finger saver device visit Amazon at this link

You will see a boomerang-like object with a black knob on it (kinda on top of the fence).  That is the Finger Saver and it runs in a small "track" which is part of the fence itself.  The boomerang portion is what actually holds the stock while you push the knob.  Hands would be nowhere near the blade.

I saw something in the picture, but didn't see a "finger saver" in you link.

Knowing the price of Saw Stop table saws, this accessory looks great.  I only wish I had know about the Vega fence years ago.  You paid the same price I did, but got a much better fence.

Hi Steven, I own the vega pro fence and have used it for better that 15 years and it has performed well for me.  I have found it to be very accurate and rugged.  With the fence I have the finger saver and it is an excellent method for cutting thin strips down to 1/4 inch wide.  (You can actually cut them thinner by making an extra plastic pusher that you can thin down at the blade height.  I made mine using some high density plastic of which I switch out when I need to cut thinner strips.  The only time I need to use ultra thin strips is when I am using wood as a veneer on raw plywood ends, but I have the ability should I need it.)  You will find that the finger saver is a smooth operating attachment that is worth it's weight in gold.  It is safe and fast.  I also have the anti kick back roller system that attaches to the fence and provided an excellent method of keeping wood against the fence as well as serving as a margin of safety from kickbacks.  This is especially useful if feeding lumber in a rapid succession such as a project needing many cuts of the same width.

The fence is an excellent one and one of the additional things about it is the added method of the micro adjusting feature.  I cut a lot of inlay and this pays off as it will move the fence in amounts that you can not really see by eye yet when you cut the inlay you will see the difference.

This is an excellent fence and it well suited for anyone wanting to upgrade your table saw to one that will accurately time after time.

Hi Rick, here is some photos of the vega fence accessories that work well.

Good morning Jay.  These are some great pictures of Vega's Finger Saver &  Anti Kickback accessories.  Thanks very much for posting them.  Also ....... your cast iron is clean & shiny.  I'm kinda jealous.

Steve you are more that welcome and I am glad I can be of help to you.  My cast iron is always shinny as I use a boot polish on it and buff it on a regular basis.  I use the clear shinola brand.  I have used the so called expensive sealers and they are no better that he boot polish.  The only difference is that they cost more.  Another one is Johnsons past wax of which does a good job.  Before I was a woodworker I was an automotive machinist where I used to mill heads and blocks and used the boot polish to protect the raw case iron of the freshly machined cast iron.  In the northwest during the winters the high amount of moisture would cause rust to appear in a matter of hours so it was a must to protect your work.  It worked well.

Hi Tom,

I have the Vega 40 Pro and everytime I measure fence to blade and then lock down the fence kicks into square position which is good, but then measurement is wrong. Any fix or do I just have to always use the scale on the tube?

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
