Just finished up my most recent project. Some friends bought me a 12 bottle wine cooler for Christmas... up until now, it has been sitting on my floor. I finally built a table for it, which includes a drawer for my corkscrews and bottle stoppers. I added some embossed trim around the top. What do you guys think?

Of course, it was made almost entirely with pocket hole joinery.

What a perfect little project for that wine cooler. Looks like a very solid construction... Did you join the carcass to the face-frame using your Kreg Jig? It'd be good to see some of the pocket-holes so we can see how you built it!

Well done.
I built the face frame out of 3/4" pine using pocket holes, as well as joining the face frame to the carcass. The drawer box is made from 1/2" poplar using pocket holes (and my new Kreg Micro drill guide). Most of the carcass is made of 1/2" sand-ply, which I found is a little thin for pocket hole joinery (since it is really only 7/16" thick). Other than pocket holes, I used glue+clamping and a few other types of screws for this project.

There were only a few exposed pocket holes, and I plugged them with paint-grade Kreg plugs. I flush cut them with my Bosch power flush cut saw and sanded them before priming and painting. They have disappeared! I know, I know... I should have taken pictures during the build... I just hate to handle my camera when I'm covered in sawdust, paint, etc.

I had about 80% of the materials on hand in the form of scraps from other projects. If I were building it from scratch, I would have gone with 3/4" for the carcass and used pocket holes all around.

By the way, my wife picked out the color, which is called "Merlot"... very fitting for the wine cooler!
