Working on a project where i laser etched an image and then used shoe polish as a filler to darken the etching. was wondering if anyone has used this technique and then used a spray lacquer/poly to put a shine/seal it in?
i did make a test piece and am more concerned if it would work and how long it would possibly hold up?

In Cherokee N.C. There is a lady that sells signs and things she makes using shoe polish, I got one for my in-laws camper, (sign with their name and home town) and it has done great for almost 2 years now. It is out in the weather all summer and part of the winter. Poly'd over the shoe polish.
