Kreg Owners' Community

I would like to build a ~8in. tall re-saw fence for my Kreg bandsaw fence. I want to attach it to the fence without having hardware on the business face of the fence. I'm thinking of using some short hex head screws to connect the back of the board to the fence--slide it on. And then have a dadoed-in piece that sits on the top of the fence with traditional knob screw-downs. Comments? Is there a better way?

P.s I know about the Kreg resaw guide--I have it, but I need a tall fence for some applications.

John,

OPTION:

''T" bolts.

Very handy for many applications.

Add a "T" slot on the back-side of the auxiliary fence.

"T" bolt head slides into the "T" slots.

Add holes thru the fence, for the "T" bolts.

Use (2) bolts---one near each end of the fence.

Threaded knobs on the back-side of the fence,

to secure the auxiliary fence in place to the band-saw fence.

Ah, great idea. Super solution. I cringe a bit at drilling through the fence, but this is really the way to go.

John,

Look closely the fence design and shape.

Select a spot or area, where the bolts can pass clearly thru the fench,

without any interference,

and on the back side of the fence where the knobs will be located.

Free-space needs to be allowed so as to access the tightening/loosening of the knobs.

Before drilling any holes in the fence,

cut your intended auxiliary fence piece, from scrap,

position it onto the fence, and hold in place with clamps.

(ALTERNATE:  construct a sample fence from cardboard.  So as to give you a perspective of what your intended end result is to be).

The select where you need to locate the bolts and knobs.

Make your bolt locations, before doing any drilling.

After your satisfied, with your test sample fence,

than you can cut your auxiliary fence, to the desired size, from the material you've selected.

Now transfer your bolt location markings from the fence to the aux fence, where your ''T" track will be located.
