Yes. Use the Kreg HD jig and screws. Much stronger joints for 2x material. You can use a regular Kreg jig (3/8") and set the depth collar correctly for the thickness of the material, but you're going to get a better joint with the bigger holes and bigger screws that come with the HD setup. A Kreg Automax face clamp is a very good thing to have when working with the HD kit also.

I making a hex ring out of 2x4s ripped to 2 ¾ inches wide with 30 degree miters. What setting on the Jig should I used? 1 ½ is too much. Thanks.Continue
