I am making a Loft bed for my daughter and she has decided she wants to paint instead of staining it. My question is what finish should I use for a bed that should see a lot of use?

Greetings Nicholas, I've have always used an oil based enamel on furniture such as beds, bookshelves, TV stands. It's not that user friendly, however it is a durable finish and well worth the efforts. I prefer the Sherwin Williams brand as it is somewhat self leveling (great for brushing) and drys to a good hard finish. Sanding between coats with some 220 sand paper will produce a nice smooth finish. Good luck and happy building.
