Kreg Owners' Community

I know it's a bit of an adventure, but I'm planning to build with cabinet where the hardwood frame is made from 1-5/16 (after planing) thick pieces. But, being stubborn, I'd still like to build it with Kreg Joints.

So, seems like I need 2" fine thread screws. Except, all I can find are 2" coarse thread - even on the Kreg website.

That makes me wonder if I'm being quite naive about it and should punt.

So...

Why aren't there 2" fine thread screws? Just an issue of demand (like I may be one of very few to ever ask for them)?

Or, is there a structural reason why my plan of action won't work? I've mocked it up with 1.5" softwoods and everything seems pretty reasonable.

Thanks, James. Shorter pocket holes might work. Guess what I'd need to do is have the jig height set for 2 inch screws so that the screw comes out near the middle of the board for strength, but change my depth collar to drill a deeper hole so that the screw is split across the two boards.

Uh oh, i finally have to read the detailed directions about those calculations. :-)

Appreciate the help.

I looked around and besides seeing "self-tapping machine screws", it seems there are no fine screws longer than 1½".

I presume creating shorter pocket holes to use the 1½" screws won't work?

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
