If you are going to use pocket screws to join material of different thicknesses, which dimension do you use? For instance, joining 3/4-inch material to 1/2-inch material.

Hi Tom. First, adjust your jig's setting based on the thickness of material you are drilling into. So, in this case, set your jig for 1/2" material. You then choose screw length based on the thickness of the material you will be driving the pocket screw into, which is 3/4" in this case. For best results with 3/4" material, use 1-1/4" screws.
If he is connecting 1/2" to 3/4" I think the 1-1/4 screw will be to long
