I am making a desk with the top surface being 3/4" oak plywood. Edge trim will be 1X2 oak. There will be a 1X4 solid oak trim piece at a 90 degree angle to the top surface that will run the perimeter of the top and will be inset by 2.5".
My question has to do with that last trim piece. Do I use a coarse thread if I drill through the solid wood trim piece because I'm attaching to plywood?
Thanks

Thanks, Robert. In the case of putting solid wood trim around the edge of a table top - would you recommend fastening from the solid wood side or from the plywood side?

I would do it that way.
Walter, I seem to always perfer a course thread. and I would attach the ply to the solid cause the screw will hold better in the solid wood. If you are using the right angle clamps be carful not to put to much presure on the clap into the ply wood or it will tear it up. And always use wood glue. This wil will be a very strong joint. Good Luck, Michael
Great. Really appreciate the advice.
Hello. I'm agreed if you use glue. This is just a basic woodworking joinery and joining using glue is simple and easy to apply. There are several woodworking basics joints that are easy to apply. Take a look at http://shedplan-woodworkingguide.blogspot.com/2011/12/woodworking-b...

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
