Joining angles?

Hi, all.  New user, and fairly new DIYer.  I'm tackling the "Little Cottage Loft Bed" from Ana White's website as my first "all-kreg pocket hole" project.  So far, so good... all 4 of my main panels are complete and looking good.  However, I'm now at the step where I need to make a "triangle frame" to house the beadboard paneling at the front top.  The angles on the cuts are 21 degrees - no problem, my mitre saw handled that just fine.  

But, my question is... how do I join these together?  The intstruction sheet is not too clear on this... it just says "build the frame using your kreg jig and attach the paneling to the back."

I've tried coming from both the inside and the outside of the angle (playing with a bunch of scrap) at the top of the gable, but I keep coming up with screws punching through the outside of the wood.  Do I need to adjust my pocket hole position?  The depth?  The screw length?  I haven't even tried to play around with joining the very narrow angles at the bottom of the triangle yet.

Can I do pocket hole joins at all 3 of these "corners"?

Hi Jim.

When placing pockets in these 1x2 boards, you will need to adjust the position of the holes, since the angle might cause the screw nearest the outer edge (top of the gable) to protrude. Since these pieces are getting attached to a backer, my advice would be to use just one screw, and place it near the inside of the angle.

At the peak, where the two rafters meet (figure "A"), I'd pre-drill for a couple horizontal screws, then just run them in to hold the two rafters together.  Make sure you use a counterboring bit so the head doesn't protrude. 

At the bottoms, where the rafters meet the joist, I'd either cut the rafters at an angle so they rest flat on the joist, or cut a couple of 3" long blocks into two triangles, with the same angles as the whole roof, then screw through the rafter, block, and into the joist (figure "B").
