Hi, Tommy TBones here again, I guess it's time to jump in and make the decision to build something since hearing about what all of you have accomplished. Well that's not entirely true I live in a 1 bedroom condo in Chicago with limited space to work, so the first project is to try to build something to hold my computers and recording equipment. I have two 16"h towers and two rack servers 7"h. Side by side I don't have an issue with the towers and the servers are 19 1/4" hole to hole and 16 3/4" case width. I need about an inch between the servers which now make the height of the piece 34" with out wheels. Depth 22" if I leave the back open although I'm thinking I'm going to add a removable back so I'd have to add 4" for air space. I know I can get the wood rough cut at the hardware store which presents a question, is a rough cut going to be close enough to use? Should I use 3/4" x 6" or even 1" x 6" would I be better off with finished plywood? What about pine? Thanks All

Hi Everybody My name is Jonathan I live in West GA, and I love to build all sorts of things. I have been designing and building with wood for the past 5 years, but I have always had a passion in it. I have built and sold a few things, and expect you do more. I joined this community to learn more about the trade I have begun to love. I hope I can share my knowledge wherer ever and with whom ever I can to help them with their project. I will post some of my lastest project soon.

Hello KOC!

My name is Pam. I live in NE Ohio. I just bought my first Kreg jig for myself. I bought my son one last year for Christmas and hated to give it away. But, anyway...I retire in less than 2 years so I have been trying to get things in my shop organized. I made a set of shelves using the pocket hole jig. My other hobby is stained glass. I have a lot of thoughts about how I can combine my two hobbies. I am looking forward to being a part of this community.

Hello everyone. My name is Rachel and I'm new to making furniture. I live in the south east of the UK. I've just made (finished this morning!) a DVD/CD storage unit with about 260 pocket holes. I've been busy!
I hope to be making many more items soon, and have lots of ideas!

Wow !

260 Pocket Holes? That's very impressive Rachel.

What a great piece of attractive and yet practical furniture.

What kind of wood did you use?

 - Gordon

Thankyou Gordon! I used 12mm (1/2 inch) hardwood plywood. I can't find any Kreg screws that are 3/4inch for this thickness of wood (at least, in the UK I couldn't find them to buy) so had to use different screws. I also had to do tighten in each of the screws by hand as the pocket hole isn't that deep and there was a risk of fracturing the plywood if I used my drill as a driver. My arms still ache!
I made a desk with storage for my daughter today. I'm getting a bit addicted!!

Very nice, reminds me of something IKEA would do. But you did it!!!!

Congrats!

Rachel,

Sorry you had all that extra manual work.

I found a discussion that deals with using 12mm stock and there are a few tips that hopefully should help you if you use 12mm again and hopefully save you tightening by hand. I can understand why your arm would be tired.

Good luck with your next project.

hi Rachel welcome to the best place on the web to learn .

Hey Everyone, John here from Brookeville Maryland. I enjoy woodworking and looks like this is a site that will help me in gaining experience with everyone's useful tips and creativeness. I attended a woodworking show and purchased a Kreg Mimi and am impressed with how strong the joints are (love it). Looking forward to this group of fine woodworkers.

welcome

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
