How many pocket holes do I need?

Ok all you amazing pocket hole experts this one is for you.  I have this top that I am wanting to attach 4x4 posts to in order to make a bench for my husband.  Below you can see how I want it to look (the top is just resting on the legs for the shot).  

My question is how many sides of each 4x4 post do I need to drill pocket holes on?  All four, or could I get away with less.  Also, I would love advice on the size of pocket holes and screws as well.  I want this to look good, and I realize I will have to fill the pocket holes but if I can get away with less that would be great, with out compromising the stability.  Make since?   I have done pocket holes several times, but it would be great to do this right the first time, so that is why I turn to you.

I have also attached a photo of the underside with one leg resting on it.  I added the extra piece of wood so the legs have a full surface to attach to.  I am hoping this will work, the top was a great find a garage sale for $1 and I had the 4x4 post given to me.  My husband needs a bench for students to sit on in his office (he is a teacher). I like to use what I have, especially this time of year when funds are going else where....

How big are the kids?

You could put 6 in each side of the leg and the way kids are (jumping, moving, playing) it may wobble and a leg or two might break off. It would be safe to add supports to avoid the legs going south (north, east or west).

Here is an image of what I am talking about....

....this shows supports on all 4 sides. Just make pocket holes in the supports to attach to the legs and then about 4 on the long support and about 2 on the short support to attach the top. The supports are 2x4's.

This way it is sturdy and safe and the kids won't need that old remedy "macuricome".

I agree with James. Use the aprons and screw the ends of the aprons to the legs and then join the top to the aprons. You won't see the screws. Much like this table I made recently.

You are right I should add the aprons, it will look better and be more sturdy.  Thank you both (James and Rick) for taking the time to help me out I really appreciate it!  Your advice and pictures were very helpful, I am very visual!  I will set to work in the morning!
