OK, I just noticed there is a difference of 1/8 of an inch in the drill collar setting on the K3 and K4 jig base. Which is correct? The K4 has the clamp handle in the back, the K3 has the clamp handle in the front just for clarification. Somewhere I saw a chart with the actual measurements if you didn't have the jig base handy. Couldn't find that or it would probably have answered my question.

In the user's manual is a chart showing how to set the collar on the drill bit for the size wood you using, below is a copy of it.....

I hope this is what you were looking for. :)

Thanks James. That's exactly what I was looking for.

The funny thing is though, like the different bases different instructions are different as well. I have another set of instructions that say for 1-1/2 to set the collar at 4-1/4 inch. So regardless of where you get your settings from they are not consistent. Looking at where this bit sits in the base with either of these settings you sure wouldn't want to use the "nickle" trick some have suggested as that would put your screw clear out the backside of your work-piece. The one thing I have learned from all of this is to take the prescribed settings as a suggested starting place and TEST with a piece of scrap before committing yourself. If your jig was 1/8 inch too long and your work-piece was 1/8 inch too thin your screw just got 1/4 inch too long and that could spell disaster.

Anyway, thanks for the response and I'll go find a piece of scrap to test on. :-)

Free Hand Guard (dust collection)

Hi.  I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing.  How effective is it?  It's adaptable to any router table.  Continue

New Kreg 720Pro

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.

I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.

First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
