Can't remember ever buying a new tool and upon opening the packaging finding myself so disappointed. This was the case recently after purchasing a Deck Jig - right there on bright yellow paper being told that the product is defective. Full acknowledgment that the drill bit included would indeed break. (You were right)

Several suggestions - pull the product from the shelves until the issue is fixed. If you don't want to do that at least put in a couple extra bits until you do so the user can at least finish one deck.

The fix suggested was to place the broken bit in your drill and use it as a normal bit. That works fine however you loose the whole quick change flexibility. The other suggestion was to call Kreg for a replacement. Not sure I want to put my deck project on hold waiting for a response.

If there is a new design in the works for the bits lets eliminate the adjustable stop altogether on both bits. Build a fixed collar on both bits. It would eliminate having to having to retighten the collar, but it would shorten the length of both bits by almost half making it much more user friendly when you are constantly changing from one drill to the other.

The end results using the jig are great, just really disappointed on Kreg's handling of a known defect in the product.
