I am building a bench, and will need to attach 2x2 to a 2x6. I can not figure out how to drill this pocket hole. I have the step collar set for 1 and 1/2 inc h and the kreg jig set at 1 and 1/2 inch. I need the 2x2 laying horizontal with vertical pocketholes. When I set it like that the drill bit does not insert on the side correctly. (see pic 1)
Of course it works if the board is oriented vertically pic 2 and 3, but I need the holes as in pic 1 so I can attach boards above it from below.. Any ideas?
Thanks for any help

Scotty, from what I am believing you are wanting to do does not require you to set the jig for 1 1/2 material but so that the pocket hole will end up penetrating the 2x2 only about one inch to 1 1/4 inch. Then use a 2 or a 2 1/4" long screw. You will be laying the 2x2 flat on the jig base and making your pocket hole.
This is the problem as not every project you build will require you to set the jig up in the same way. Like I have said for years as long as you set the stop collar so that the thickness of a nickel will go under the drill bit tip and the base of the jig you will not bore into your base and the only other thing you have to worry about is using a screw that will penetrate the pocket hole drilled piece and into the adjoining piece you will have a good joint . Use of glue is advisable.
Great idea Jay, thanks!!

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing. How effective is it? It's adaptable to any router table. Continue

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
