This is probably an old idea, but I will present it anyway. I was applying wax to a new workbench top when it occurred to me that buffing out the wax was a pain and would be easirer with a buffer. However, I don't have a buffer. I do havde a 5" hook and loop sander. I tried several ways to use it with an old towel, but could not find a way to attach it. I did notice the towel stuck to the bottom of the sander. I cut out a 5" circle of the towel a atached it to the sander. It worked like a charm. I now have a bufffer in addition to the sander.

Synthetic finishing pads, offer by Rockler.

These are a great product.
(1) My sander has variable speed and it did not create a "mess". (2) the discussion was on buffing not on the finish. Everyone has their own opinion and we should leave it at that. (3) My workbench is 8' by 30''. I hardly think a spoonful would be a sufficent amount. My suggestion was on how to use a sander as a buffer , nothing more.
Jerry, thanks for the tip.
Just yesterday I was trying to do something like that with a scotch pad, and it didn't work out.
There are different finishing grades of synthetic finishing pads, from course to x-fine.
I got some ''high gloss finishing'' pads, from Rocklers---
5'' dia micro-mesh cushioned abrasive (micron-graded silicon carbide crystals) pads---
Grits are 1500 thru 12000.
For ultimate finish on wood, plastics, acrylics, urethanes, precious metals, and more.
Thanks for the tip. I will take a look at the pads.

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone has used the Woodpecker Free Hand Guard for dust collection on their bench top router table during pattern routing. How effective is it? It's adaptable to any router table. Continue

I saw the video Kreg put out for this new jig and had high hopes for it.
I purchased one today and am very disappointed with it.
First the docking station is extremely cheap. The plastic is pathetic. A Lego has more…
