Bad marketing.

I like Kreg products and all but I don't see why they have to market pocket holes as a new technology they have created.

Workshops have been using pockets holes for years by either using a router to cut a groove or even a pillar drill with a home made jig. 

Why the need to try and sell something that kreg didnt actually invent.

Looking deeper into it apparently pocket holes go as far back as the Egyptians who bored a hole at an angle then drove a wooden dowel into the hole to join two pieces.

 I think that Kreg built the pocket jig years ago to help him make his own cabinets for his house. He wanted to make them his own at the time when back in the '70s. The cabinets were built by big shops and Kreg thought up the simple jig to bring it to the woodworker that is in the smaller shops and garages.  You might say bad marketing but, at the time it made good sense. Are you going to tell me that you wouldn't buy a jig to simplify your work in your shop. I am not a spokeswoman for Kreg but, a person that remembers that when I was a kid you could not get a jig like this one unless you had a lot of money.  History tells us that screws were made from wood and metal also. Are you going to say that a company making metal screws comes up with a better screw is bad marketing too. Think about it.
