This is a portable workbench for jobsite use.Made out of some old 8"x3"s that i found when clearing out my dads garage. No fastenings required simply knocks together with half lap jionts, ply top in 3 sections which is self aligning with the aid of fixed batens underneath.

Hi leslee yes 2x4"s fine and yes again you can cut a full sheet of 8x4ply on it.If you want more stability just widen the two main rails too suit your saw horses or benches, before you make your lap jionts.

Michael, Could you use 2x4s instead of what you used for the frame. Can you cut a sheet of plywood on it? It is a great idea for an easy put up and tare down bench. Thanks for sharing.

Mick,

Those timbers will make for a solid work top.

Great idea for a  ''knock-down design'' for a work top.
