Having an issue. Just purchased a Kreg Plug Cutter and it seems to be chipping the plugs when drilling. tried Ash, Walnut, and cherry. Any suggestions??

Here’s the response I received from Kreg Support about this issue. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet.

  • ...in general by following these tips you should be able to get at least 70-80% good plugs.
        First you'll want to use a corded drill, rather than a battery-powered one.  This is because corded drills have higher RPM's.  The higher the RPM's the better, as long as it's not an impact drill.
        Secondly, you'll want to take your time in penetrating the material, especially in the initial penetration.  Try to let gravity do the work.  We generally recommend taking at least 8-10 seconds for full penetration on each plug.

Tried it with a corded drill and it worked.  Need to take your time and let the bit do the work.
