I recently purchased an auto max clamp. But when I started using it I realized that it does not work as advertised. Anyone else had that problem. I have to readjust the clamp every time I use a different thickness of material.

I'm not a fan of the automax clamps.  I prefer the old school style that you adjust via a knurled screw on the END of the handle (similar to original vise grip brand).  Even tho the automax clamp is supposed to be automatic, it seems to put too much force on the workpiece or not enough.  I end up adjusting that tiny little screw in the middle of the handle to get the exact force I want.  So, whats the point of an auto clamp if it isn't auto?  I actually started searching for a clamp this weekend that provided me with the old style screw on the end of the handle, with large clamping area pads (like the Kreg automax) and made in the USA.  Haven't found it yet!

Do they make 90 degree clamp that is manual?

Dana,

Could you define the joining members where you'll need a 90 degree clamp?

Perhaps there is a clamping tool on the market that may be suitable to meet your needs.

Hi Dana,
I personally haven't encountered any issues using Automaxx clamps. Both the 1st generation and latest generation of Automaxx products that i use daily have performed well for me. Would you elaborate on the trouble you're running into when utilizing the Automaxx clamps?

Kreg KHC-90DCC Corner Clamp, 4-1/2 in, Forged SteelThis 90 degree clamp is manual. It takes a lot of adjustment but it does help. I searched for "Kreg 90 degree clamp' to find this picture. I haven't had problems with the Automaxx clamps.

Bonjour,
