I have been given some 7x3 wood and would like to make a simple outdoor bench with two legs. Would a kreg HD be strong enough for this?

Andy - the Kreg Jig® HD is optimized for working with 2x4s and 1 1/2" thick and larger stock. It works great for framing walls, building deck railings, outdoor furniture, or any other large project. Yes, I think it should work for the bench as it is well optimized for large outdoor projects.
